The Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) Worldwide has condemned the unprovoked attack initiated on the Benin indigenes of Obazuwa Community by Ijaw youths who are settlers in the neighboring Ikoro Community. In a statement issued and signed by its President, Comrade Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, and made available to newsmen in Benin City, said  the Benins are peace lovers, accommodating and generous people. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Esan South-East Chapter has conferred an award of honour on the member representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun in recognition and appreciation of his contributions to the house of God, growth and upliftment of  humanity. The award which was conferred on him yesterday by officials of the association at St. Benedict Catholic Church Ubiaja was received on behalf of the awardee by Sir Fred Oreke JP. In his brief remarks shortly after clinching the award, Rt. Hon.  Ogun commended the leadership and members of the Esan South-East Chapter of the national christian body for considering him deserving of the honour while reiterating his commitment to the service of God and humanity.
