Accolades as Timi Jombo Idoko is Appointed into the NFF Women Football Committee



It was garlands across the nation as friends and well wishers of Timi Jombo Idoko, journalist and outgoing Zonal Vice President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, South-South Zone celebrated with her through phone calls and messages as she was announced by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as member of the NFF Women Football Committee 2020.  

 The first set of females that started female football in Nigeria  as a secondary school girl in 1989,  Mrs Idoko's enthusiasm for sporting activities, particularly the round leather game, had found her playing for teams in Lagos state, including the  Airforce team , Legico, Victoria Island, the Island Football Club, the Marroco Club,
Victoria lsland, among several others. 

She told journalists that it was due to lack of encouragement then that she did not continue,  but her interest in sports endeared her to many sports enthusiasts and she grew to become a sports administrator, the Team Manager  of NUJ Bayelsa State  Council Football Team, Team Manager  of Radio Bayelsa FC, the only trophy winning  coach in Bayelsa state in SWAN, Bayelsa Media Football Tournament, and went further to coach Radio Bayelsa Team and emerged winner of the trophy in 2018. 

A member of the Bayelsa State FA for two tenures, Timi Jombo Idoko has not relented in showing deep interest for sporting activities, perhaps, that informed the decision of the NFF Board to give her the opportunity to serve in the NFF Women Football Committee.
  
Timi Jombo Idoko is married to a retired International Player, John Idoko, her personal coach and  team manager of all the teams she played in, including Hamza FC and Lagos Mainland FC. 
  She is currently a member of the Nigeria Football  Supporters Club and the Social Secretary, Bayelsa State Chapter of the Club,  member,  Bayelsa State FA for two tenures, and only female member of the FA Board.  Timi looks forward to many more years of active participation in football games and hopes to build a foundation for young talented female football players in Nigeria.
