SERGIUS OSEASOCHIE OGUN FOUNDATION (SOOF) PRESENTS NECO/SSCE ENROLLMENT GRANTS TO 600 CANDIDATES, OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP TO OVERALL BEST 6
,Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation (SOOF) has in continuation of her humanitarian programmes presented NECO/SSCE enrollment fees to 600 candidates drawn from the public and private secondary schools in Esan North-East and Esan South-East Local Government Areas of Edo State.
The presentation ceremony which took place today Saturday, 5th June, 2021 at Sacred Heart Girls Model Secondary School Ubiaja was attended by dignitaries which cut across different strata of the society, traditional rulers, political leaders, religious leaders, school principals, parents/ guardians of the beneficiaries amongst others.
In his brief remarks shortly before the presentation of the NECO/SSCE enrollment fees to the successful candidates, the initiator of the scheme and president of the foundation, Rt Hon. (Barr.) Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun, who is also the Member, House of Representatives, representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency, congratulated the beneficiaries who scaled through the mock test and urged them to use the grants for the intended purpose .
Hon ogun also announced an automatic university scholarship to the overall best six candidates, with an annual scholarship grant of #100, 000 per scholar.
While expressing the foundation's readiness to support indigent graduates from the area to pursue their post graduate degrees, also disclosed that he had already assisted two female graduates to secure scholarship for a doctorate programme in a foreign universities.
Rt Hon. Ogun whose remarks was greeted with thunderous applause also did the formal presentation of the NECO/ SSCE enrollment grants to the 600 candidates, commensing with the overall best six candidates.
The traditional rulers and political leaders present also took turns to present the cash grants to the elated final year students.
The beneficiaries of the undergraduate scholarship scheme also received their annual scholarship grant at the well-attended ceremony.
Miss Ibhate Courage, a medical student of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma offered prayers and gave appreciation on behalf of other beneficiaries.
It is an open secret that Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation provides NECO/SSCE enrollment grants and undergraduate scholarship for deserving students on a yearly basis.
The beneficiaries were selected strictly on merit conducts of mock test for eligible final year students while the best 600 students are picked on their performance.
Over the years, thousands of students have benefitted from the free NECO/SSCE enrollment scheme and undergraduate scholarship scheme.
Other humanitarian programmes of the foundation include but not limited to annual free notebooks distribution excercise, provision of cash prizes for the best graduating Esan ND and HND graduating students in Auchi Polytechnic, free medical outreach, human empowerment scheme, grading of earth roads, distribution of food commodities to widows, charity visit to orphanage, charity visit to correctional centre, provision of legal aids for prison inmates, provision of financial support for the needy, sponsorship of school inter-house sports competition etc.
In 2014, the foundation constructed a free borehole at Ubiaja Correctional Centre and donated free computer/ accessories to the management of the correctional facility.
Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation is well noted for her consistency of providing humanitarian programmes.
