Averting Political Covid In Esanland




Two serving members of the National Assembly in Esanland are gasping for breath. because in an attempt to be clever by half, they have inflicted severe political injuries upon themselves.And from the injuries, poisonous political waters are dripping and unless it is immediately checkmated, Esanland may soon be afflicted with the disease— better called political Covid

This is a historic moment within the grasp of well meaning Esan men and women, politicians and professional groups to rise and with one voice, speak truth to these men , who are desperately destroying the trajectory of how they were elected in 2015 , in an effort to gratify self- serving agenda.

In 2015, they fought and blocked their predecessors who were in mood to go for third term.
Now , ahead of 2023 polls, they are reportedly positioning for the same third term they opposed in 2015 and upon which the people rallied round them. 

Perhaps , they think the people have forgotten that they actually helped to set a precedent when they won election into the National Assembly on the strength of their anti- third term stance and rhetorics.

If their predecessors had insisted on going for third term or remain in the National Assembly for life, as they now seek, they would never have had any chance of contesting.

Did I hear someone saying their action is not unconstitutional? 
Is that an excuse for selfishness to thrive? Those who birthed this republic in 1999 would still have been in National Assembly if they had selfishly sought to exploit the Constitution.

That precedent that was set in Edo State and Esanland in particular in 2015, has come to stay and the immorality of trying to undermine it defines its unacceptability . 

And if by any act of omission or commission, they have their way, the electoral advantage APC will harvest from it is so clear. PDP stands to lose Esanland to APC if PDP third term seekers are not rejected.

Political Power is an intoxicating aphrodisiac. An aphrodisiac is a food or drug that arouses sexual instinct, brings on desire, or increases sexual pleasure or performance. 

That is exactly what power does to men — especially those who have no agenda for life outside the corridors of power. Without power, their conditions become more pitiable than fish out of water.

Edo 2024: Crisis Brew in Edo APC Over Oshiomhole's Endoresement of Preferred Candidate

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State may be heading into the September 21, 2024 Governorship election as a divided party, if the romours of imposition of Mr. Dennis Idahosa as his preferred candidate is true. NAWOJ Demand justice for her member assaulted by Ex_husband

. The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has noted with concern, the alarming spikes in the cases of physical and domestic violence against women by their spouses. The ugly development is becoming worrisome, reprehensible, dastardly thus, totally unacceptable . It is particularly worrisome to note that in the month of August 2022 alone, there were three documented cases of wife battery that inflicted serious physical injuries, mental torture, dehumanised sanctity and dignity of victims by their husbands in the country. One of the sad cases, is confirmed dead from the alleged  unfortunate violence.
