Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation Enrols NECO/SSCE For 600 Students, Presents Scholarship Grants To Undergraduates



The disbursement ceremony for the 10th edition of Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation Free NECO/SSCE Enrollment Scheme took place on the 4th of June 2022 at the Ogbidi Learning Centre, Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Present at the well-attended event were traditional rulers from various autonomous kingdoms in Agbazilo, political leaders, educationists, students to mention but a few. 

In his address, the Founder/President of the foundation and distinguished member representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency of Edo State at the National Assembly, Rt Hon. ( Barr.) Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun thanked dignitaries for honouring the foundation with their presence advised students to work harder to attain the hallmark of academic success. While reiterating the foundation’s commitment to all her annual humanitarian programmes, Rt Hon. Ogun re-echoed his desire to extend the grants to more final year students, howbeit on the sole condition that they meet the cut off marks. 

A deputy commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC), Alabi Babatunde, Zonal Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons ( NAPTIP), Barr. Nduka, an official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA), Umeh Okoha of Edo State Command and Austin Odile of the National Orientation Agency were on ground to provide free sensitization lectures on areas related to their core mandates respectively. 

High point of the ceremony was the disbursement of free NECO/SSCE enrollment fees to the deserving six hundred final year secondary school students who were carefully selected, based on merit from public and private secondary schools in Agbazilo. Each beneficiary received #15,000. The Ojuromi of Uromi, His Royal Majesty, Anselm Edenojie II, Onojie of Ewatto, His Royal Highness, S. O Ikhumen, Onojie of Ugboha, His Royal Highness, Stephen Ukato , Onojie of Uzea, His Royal Highness, Solomon Itoya Iluobe II amongst other dignitaries took turns to present the envelopes containing the grants to the beneficiaries. 

In a similar manner, the foundation doled out scholarship grants to many undergraduates from various universities across the country. 

 The Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation Free NECO/SSCE Enrollment Scheme is an annual non profitable programme which seeks to reward intelligent but indigent final year secondary school students in Agbazilo. The process for selection begins with a mock exam where the six hundred best students are shortlisted for the free NECO/SSCE enrollment grants while the overall best six students gets automatic scholarship award to any university of their choice within the country.
