Federated Chapel of Edo State NUJ Elect New Exco

New executives to run the affairs of the Federated Chapel of the Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists for the next three years have been elected and inaugurated to at the new conference Hallof the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council.
The election which ended by 11am was conducted by the Treasurer of the Council, Comrade Solomon Obozonya and witnessed by the State Council Secretary, Comrade Andy Egbon, secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Rosemary Okoduwa and some other Journalists from other Chapel as observers.
At the end of the election which was free and fair , Mercy Onyenweli emerged winner as chairman with 17 votes to defeat her opponent, Timothy Omobude who got one vote though pulled out of the race earlier today. Others members of the executive who were unopposed are Lucky Ighomuaye (Secretary), Anita Erhenhi (Treasurer) and Justy Oteri ( Financial Secretary).
While inaugurating the newly elected executive, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe appluaded the whole process by saying the election was the most peaceful ever conducted since his assumption of office. He also added that the pulling out of the other chairmanship candidate, Mr Timothy Omobude from the election having been cleared by the committee, is not enough to invalidate the election. While lauding the efforts of the caretaker/ credentials committee headed by Dr Isaac Eranga, he urged members of the chapel and all those who were in opposition during the State Council election to work in peace and team up with the present Council executives to take the council to the next level.
The newly elected chairman, Mercy Onyenweli in her speech assured members of her readiness to key into the developmental structure and run with the pace set up by our Chairman Comrade Festus Alenkhe led administration to bring development to the Chapel and promised to be transparent in her leadership and policy.
