AISHA AND TIMI CAMPAIGN TRAIN VISITS EDO STATE, PROMISE GENUINE RECONCILIATION FOR NAWOJIANS IF VOTED INTO OFFICE
"
Over the years have we been able to fulfil our mandate as a professional group, vis-a-vis give voice to the voiceless women of Nigeria. In a small part of the Northeast and some parts of the South South, IDP camps sprawl over the places, mostly occupied by over 80 percent women and children; women are raped there on daily basis, and many children are trafficked from there and also sexually exploited. Has NAWOJ ever risen to the occasion to address their challenges, make government look indepth at the plight of these vulnerable people? We need to nurture, give mentorship to upcoming women journalists to increase the reportage of these key areas of our development. We need more women in Journalism as we need women gynaecologists. Women are dying on daily basis as a result of cancer. We should give voice to the voiceless and set agenda for others to follow,"- Aisha Ibrahim, Presidential candidate, addressing women journalists in Benin today
