Edo SWAN dissolves Exco, set up Caretaker Committee.




With the expiration of the Ahmed Aigbona led executive of Edo State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in September, 2020, the association has dissolve the Exco and set up caretaker committee.

The Committee which has Alhaji Hameed Braimah as Chairman, Comrade Kingsley Abavo as Secretary and Comrade Moses Agbonlahor as member was given two months to conduct free, fair and credible election for a new executive to emerge.

This decision was reached at an emergency congress of Friday, 22nd January, 2020 at NUJ Secretariat where members present unanimously agreed that it was necessary to fill the vacuum created by the expiration of the tenure of the last SWAN Executive.

In a statement, the leadership of Edo NUJ  through her Secretary Comrade Titus Akhigbe advised stakeholders to officially deal with the Committee in all issues regarding sports activities in the state.

"Offices of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Edo State, Ministry of Youths, Edo Sports Commission and all others sport stakeholders are to take note," the statement opined.

In his acceptance speech, chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Hameed Braimah assured that the Committee would work for the good of all members of SWAN in the days ahead just as it sued for the support and cooperation of members of the Association.

Edo 2024: Crisis Brew in Edo APC Over Oshiomhole's Endoresement of Preferred Candidate

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State may be heading into the September 21, 2024 Governorship election as a divided party, if the romours of imposition of Mr. Dennis Idahosa as his preferred candidate is true. NAWOJ Demand justice for her member assaulted by Ex_husband

. The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has noted with concern, the alarming spikes in the cases of physical and domestic violence against women by their spouses. The ugly development is becoming worrisome, reprehensible, dastardly thus, totally unacceptable . It is particularly worrisome to note that in the month of August 2022 alone, there were three documented cases of wife battery that inflicted serious physical injuries, mental torture, dehumanised sanctity and dignity of victims by their husbands in the country.
