NAWOJ CONDOLE WITH BENUE STATE NUJ ON THE DEMISE OF THEIR CHAIRPERSON

It is with a deep sense of shock that the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) received the news of the death of the chairperson, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, Mrs Victoria Asher.

In a statement signed by the national president Comrade Ladi Bala and national secretary Comrade Helen Udofa,, the association express that they understand Mrs Asher died on Saturday January 30, 2021 at about 8:00a.m at the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) Makurdi, Benue State from complications after a successful Caesarean Section (CS) surgery, that delivered her twin babies.

Late Victoria Asher was a dedicated staff of Radio Benue and thoroughbred journalist who also contributed immensely to the growth of the Journalism profession as chairperson of Benue State Council of the NUJ. She was also a supportive member of NAWOJ.

Though she has departed this world, we trust that her memory would never fade as she will be remembered for her sterling leadership qualities, dedication, hard work and unwavering commitment to the Journalism profession.

We deeply mourn her sudden demise and pray that the Almighty God would grant her family, colleagues and all members of Benue State NUJ and NAWOJ the fortitude to bear this sad loss, Amen.
