Edo Assembly inaugurates its House Standing C'tee on Information, Youth and Humanitarian Affairs


The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku has inaugurated the newly constituted House standing Committee on Information, Youth and Humanitarian Affairs of the Assembly. 

The Speaker, who was delighted welcomed members of the committee and heads of the ministry of Commications and Orientation, Youth, Sports and Humanitarian Affairs to the inauguration ceremony which was held at the Assembly's conference Hall.

Rt.Hon. Agbebaku who was flanked by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Maria Edeko and other lawmakers stated that the 8th Edo State House of Assembly will take its oversight function seriously.

In the same vein, Chairman of the newly inaugurated committee and member representing Akoko-Edo 2 Constituency, Hon. Donald Okogbe thanked members of the committee and heads of the state ministry of Commications and Orientation, Youth, Sports and Humanitarian Affairs for gracing the event.

Hon. Okogbe who promised that his committee will be very proactive in the discharge of its oversight functions maintained that every money appropriated to the ministry must be properly utilized for the benefits of Edo people.

Moreso, he stated that subsequently, the ministries and agencies under the purview of the committee will be invited again to brief the Committee on its challenges and areas where it needs legislative support. 

The Committee Members
 Hon. Eugene Inegbeboh, Hon. Edosa Osaro, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu, Hon Uyi Omosigho, Hon Kingsley Ugabi, Hon. Nicholas Asonsere and Hon. Bright Iyamu.

On his part, Commissioner, Ministry of Communications and Orientation Mr. Chris Nehikhare pledged one hundred percent cooperation of the ministry to the newly inaugurated committee.

Mr Nehikhare ,who spoke on behalf of other MDAs present ,however revealed that there was a pending Bill in the House, sequel to the Committee Chairman's question on the subject.
Other MDAs present include Sports Commission, as well as the Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Media Projects, Mr Crusoe Osagie.
