Image
By Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon   As Africa and indeed the world celebrates the uncommon achievement of our own Mrs. Ngozi Okonji-Iweala as the first black female to sit as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation(WTO), I want to use this opportunity to bring to the fore the problems the girl child is faced with, which are surmountable if careful plans are put in place. Every day, girls face barriers to education caused by poverty, cultural norms and practices, poor infrastructure and violence. Therefore, their education is supposed to be  a strategic development priority in developing nations like Nigeria. The Ministry of Education ought to work closely with other sister agencies and development organizations on girls’ education issues to identify and advance interventions that will improve girls’ education outcomes and provide resources for support. These can come in terms of manpower provisions, reading materials provisions, uniforms provisions, tr...

Forced Registration In Kano, Others Shows APC Is Clinging on Straws...Commends Nigerians For Resisting APC

Image
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the resort by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to political banditry of harassing and threatening Nigerians, particularly civil servants in Kano state, to register as members of the APC, against their will, further exposes the level of public rejection that is now confronting the party. The PDP describes such as political terrorism, symptomatic of a dying party gasping for breathe, adding that Nigerians have rejected the APC and will never be intimidated by such threats. One can only pity APC leaders over the crushing public apathy against their fraudulent membership registration exercise, for which their Kano state Chairman, Abdulahi Abbas, out of frustration, threatened civil servants and other innocent Nigerians in the state, to join their dying party or lose all benefits and opportunities from the state government. It is appalling that after being exposed in their scheme of hiding under their duplicitous membership r...
