Proposed 5% allocation for Nigerian youths get approval at Reps Hearing

  The proposed law for youths to be the beneficiaries of five percent of the country's capital estimates in the Appropriation Act of every year, Thursday received overwhelming support from the Public at a one day Hearing. The heavily attended Public Hearing, coordinated by the House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.  The envisioned legislation titled Youth Entrepreneurship Development Trust Fund Bill, sponsored by Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo, Member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency, was conceived in recognition of the enormous potentials of the teeming Nigerian Youths, which constitute over 55% of the country’s population and many of whose budding talent have not been effectively harnessed for the socio-economic growth and development of the country. .Edo state House of Assembly speaker inspects constituency attracted project in Iruekpen..... Expresses joy at spate of work , while residents rejoice.

  Rt Hon Marcus Onobun ksc has expressed joy at the pace of work on town planning road in Iruekpen ,a project which is part of his constituency attracted project.  The speaker made this known during an inspection of the project . Work on the project has commenced as the contracting firm has mobilized to site . The contractor has commenced the construction of side drains to contain the erosion which is the major problem in the area ,while construction of other accessories would follow.  The speaker,Rt Hon Marcus Onobun expressed delight at the pace of work as it is in fufilment of promises made to the people , while he continues to ensure the well being of the residents.  Residents commended the speaker for the work as the road has been abandoned for years by successive governments .  They prayed God to continue to bless the speaker to attract more people oriented projects to Iruekpen and Esan west constituency .

Edo Speaker reiterates plan by Assembly to ensure laws that would meet the security needs of the people are passed

Edo Assembly commences deliberations on anti open grazing bill

The Edo State House of Assembly has commenced  the process to pass the Bill for a Law to prohibit open grazing of cattle and other livestock  in Edo state. The Bill passed it’s second reading today during a resumed plenary following  wide consultations with stakeholders and various interest groups on the decision to ban open grazing in the state. Setting the tone for the debate, Speaker, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun said the  Bill has been long awaited and its imperative in the state's bid to check criminal activities and insecurity; this the speaker said is a major reason the Bill should be considered. Speaking in favour of the Bill, member representing Ikpoba Okha and Majority Leader, Hon. Edo Assembly passes Bill for the Establishment of Igbinedion College of Health Technology

  Edo State House of Assembly has passed a bill for a Law to establish Igbinedion College of Health Technology and other matters related thereto, at the resumed plenary of the  assembly. The Bill passed its second and third readings after the majority leader, Hon. Henry Okhuarobo, member representing Ikpoba Okha constituency applied for a consideration of Bill following presentation of report to the house by the Standing Committee on health.  After clause by clause  deliberation of parts of the Bill at the committee of the whole, all members gave their unanimous consent for the enactment of the Bill. The speaker, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun thereafter requested the House Clerk, Alhaji Yahaya Audu-Omogbai to forward clean copies of the resolution to relevant authority for assent. Edo Assembly confirms Eight Commissioners.

The Edo State House of Assembly has today confirmed the appointment of eight of nine commissioner nominees sent to the house for screening by the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki to serve as  commissioners in the state executive council The confirmation process took place during resumed plenary at the Hallowed Chambers of the Assembly complex after the chairman of a three-man Adhoc committee responsible for the screening of the nominees, Majority Leader, Hon. Henry Okhuarobo, member representing Ikpoba Okha constituency presented the screening report. According to him, the screening exercise was rigorously done and carefully detailed to ensure candidates meet all the criteria. Marcus Onobun has commenced the training of Edo Central political appointees to ensure e-registration of new and old People Democratic Party(PDP) members across the senatorial District. The Speaker, who addressed the participants across the Senatorial district during the training at Iruekpen town hall, Ekpoma, said participants being trained include political appointees and party loyalist. He said the exercise is aimed at creating an electronic register of all party members to digitilize and secure the party's membership data, adding, “The exercise is aimed at generating a unique membership identification number for each member. Edo NUJ enrolls members for health insurance scheme

The Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Edo State Council, has signed up into the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme. The scheme was set up by the Edo State Government to help residents reduced their out of pocket spendings on health care.    Prior to the enrollment, the  Director General of the Edo State Health Insurance Commission and other members of his team visited the union to brief them of the importance of the Scheme and the health benefits embedded in the various health plans. Dr Rock Amegor told the union members that it is very important for them to come into the Scheme, considering the fact that they are the  eyes and mirrors of the society, with very high level credibility in the society. Edo Assembly enacts Local Govt Law, review Ad Valorem stamp duties.

The Edo state House of Assembly  has today enacted the bill for a Law to amend the Edo state Local Government Law 2000 and for purposes connected there with. The bill scaled its third reading after the presentation of report and findings by the House standing committee on local government and community affairs chaired by Hon. Ephraim Aluebhosele, member representing Igueben constituency. Majority Leader, Hon. Henry Okhuarobo, member representing Ikpoba Okha constituency, in a formal application moved for the dissolution of plenary into committee of the whole for further deliberation and consideration of the report. Edo State House of Assembly has commenced the process of screening nine commissioners nominees sent to it by the State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki.  The Speaker Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun who nominated a three man committee including majority Leader of the House Rt.Hon. Henry Okhuarobo chairman,  Chief Whip of the House,  Rt.Hon. Emma Okoduwa and Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje as members.
